Artistic Director Search
The Guild is seeking a highly skilled artistic director to lead the chorus as it fulfills its mission to enrich the Greater Williamsburg community through excellent performance of choral music while growing both the membership and musicianship of the chorus. Such a leader will consistently offer creative and engaging programming that presents classical repertoire as well as new works, involves singers young and old, and appeals to current and potential audiences.
Primary responsibilities of this part-time position (independent contractor) include selecting repertoire, conducting all rehearsals and performances, developing program budgets, and auditioning and developing members.
Successful applicants will have the minimum qualification of a Master’s degree in music; three years’ experience conducting a college/university, community, religious and/or secondary school vocal ensemble; evidence of excellent instructional competency of musicality, vocal technique, and diction; demonstrated experience with orchestral accompanied choral works. A Master’s or Doctorate in Choral Conducting is preferred.
