Millie Andrews Young Artist Fund

A memorial fund was established in the name of Millie Andrews Young in 2013 with generous donations from Millie’s family and friends. Millie was  a member of the Choral Guild from 1993 to 2013 and was the Guild’s accompanist for many years.

The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support for high school students and college age students who perform with the Guild or who are recommended to the Guild based on their musical talent.

Management and Investment Strategy

Management of the fund is the responsibility of the Guild Board of Directors. The fund account is held separately from accounts used for operating expenses.

How the Funds May be Used

The fund may be used to pay for Williamsburg Choral Guild membership fees and music fees for local young musicians who perform with the Guild as well as transportation costs and other appropriate expenses related to performing with the Guild.  The fund may provide for young instrumental or vocal artists to perform solos in Choral Guild concerts. The fund may be used to provide traditional scholarships to students who demonstrate artistic merit and intend to continue studying music. The fund may be used to grant cash awards to young musicians who compete in the Guild’s Young Artist Vocal Competition.

The Board of Directors approves disbursement of funds according to the guidelines stated above to provide for the artistic growth of local youth.
